“They say no land remains to be discovered, no continent is left unexplored. But the whole world is out there, waiting, just waiting for me. I want to do things…I want to do things that will mean something” (Lisa Ann Sandell, A Map of the Know World). Authentic learning is about doing things that are meaningful to the learner. It is my hope that the journey into world of Online Learning and Teaching (OLTD) will be a meaningful endeavor to enhance my technology skills, and help me to create environments that are rich with engagement and learning. I enjoy designing and developing new courses, and I am always refining the courses I have taught. I am looking forward to gaining experience in course design for online learning/blended learning environments.
In the pursuit finding meaning in my practice, I would be remiss not to say that my hopes for this program are to launch new opportunities in my career. Truthfully, I do not have a clear destination in mind, but I do know that my plans do not involve administration. Although I take pleasure in the positive relationships that develop with students in face-to-face teaching, I am also in interested in course development and/or working in an online learning environment. I wonder what the future of online learning in our province will look like, and if there will be new opportunities for teachers.
